VILLA
CARIBE
A
warm “Caribbean Breeze” drifting over turquoise blue waters onto
the terraces of this 5000 square foot, luxurious, private, oceanfront
villa greets another day at Brisa Caribe (Bree-sa Ca-ree-bay).
Situated
in the heart of the Mayan Riviera, within the spectacular gated
resort community of Puerto Aventuras, Brisa Caribe is close to everything.
You will find the laid back resort of Akumal 15 minutes to the south,
funky and fast growing Playa del Carmen 15 minutes to the north,
and absolutely anything you might want to find or escape from, in
bustling Cancun just another 40 minutes further north.
Brisa
Caribe is a new, luxury, oceanfront villa offering all of the extras.
It is available for rent on a weekly basis for a limited time during
the year. Arches, domes, red brick, talavera, wrought iron, marble,
plaster and Mexican tile have all been incorporated into the stunning
design. Furnished and decorated with local handcrafted furniture
and the owners’ collection of treasures gathered from various corners
of the world, it is unique and eclectic.
With 7 bedrooms providing spacious accommodation for up to 14 guests,
Brisa Caribe is well suited to any gathering such as dive groups,
family reunions, couples/families on holiday together, weddings,
corporate retreats, small office getaways or those just wanting
plenty of room in a luxurious “Caribbean Casual” environment.
You
don’t have a group of 14 or require 7 bedrooms? We can close off
one or two of the bedrooms and lower the rental rate for you.
Do
you have a large group and need even more room? Don’t worry, we
have access to four other villas on our street so you can all enjoy
the comforts of a private villa and still be close to each other.
Whether
you are coming for diving, a special event or just a relaxing vacation,
we are well equipped to serve you. From simply providing information
on what the area has to offer, to leading you through a week’s diving
activities, to planning an entire wedding. Our local knowledge,
involvement in the diving community and the availability of an experienced
wedding planner/special events’ coordinator, all work towards ensuring
that your visit is memorable and hassle free.
Even
if you do not have a special group or feel you require such a large
villa, we encourage you to take a moment to look at the “detail
description” and “amenities” to compare us against the rest. Numerous
others advertise as luxury villas but have quietly neglected some
of the essentials you would associate with a luxury home. In some
cases even something as basic as air conditioning throughout the
entire villa is lacking. At Brisa Caribe we think you will not only
find everything one would expect, but also the numerous little extras,
which add up to so much more.
Most
luxury villas in the area that are available to the rental market
serve strictly as vacation villas. While many are well equipped
and appointed, they often lack the homey feeling you will find at
Brisa Caribe. This is because Brisa Caribe is not just another luxury
oceanfront villa used specifically for vacations. It is the year
round home of expatriated Canadians, Doug and Twyla Wasmuth.
Their
professions and love of travel have allowed them the rare opportunity
to visit, work or live in a large number of countries stretching
around the world. The experiences gained and treasures gathered
from this lifestyle have resulted in an eclectic taste, which is
brought out in the architectural and interior design of the villa.
Doug and Twyla consider the greatest assets from their travels to
be the many and diverse friendships that they have developed along
the way. Having enough room for these friends to visit and the right
surroundings to entertain them in, has resulted in the 5000 plus
square foot, 7 bedroom, 7 bath villa, which is Brisa Caribe. For
approximately 20 weeks of the year, they are willing to make available
this unique home for rent to special guests like you and your family,
friends or associates.
In
order for a home to be comfortable it should not only offer all
of the creature comforts that make life easy and enjoyable, there
should also be a natural effortless flow to how life functions within
it. The home should have character, a personality, which presents
it self as you see the home from different perspectives and over
time. In addition there must be areas which provide privacy and
intimacy, yet open spaces for the occupants to gather and celebrate.
Finding this balance when designing a large home, which normally
houses only 2 people but at other times caters to as many as 14,
is a challenge which has been well met at Brisa Caribe.
Although
there are no security concerns, the street side of the property
is walled and gated for your privacy. Upon entering the grounds
you will find a small peaceful garden with fountain on your right
and the “casita” on your left. The casita is a separate 1500 sq.
ft. building, which serves as a combination of garage, staff quarters,
laundry, and dive equipment storage area. The top floor is a one-bedroom
apartment where the Property Managers reside during your stay in
order for them to personally oversee the staff and assist in ensuring
your visit is memorable. If they are not in residence, then they
will have an English speaking administrator available to meet you,
help you get settled and available should you require their assistance.
The area between the casita and villa is a small tiled courtyard
where you will find a wash tank and drying area for your scuba equipment.
Twyla is a PADI and BSAC scuba diving instructor and NACD cavern
guide, Doug is a BSAC dive leader. Both are keen divers and will
be happy to help you find the best cenotes and reefs in the area.
You can often catch them making a shore dive right out in front
of the villa. Twyla is available to provide scuba instruction or
to act as your personal dive guide. What a great opportunity to
get certified right in the comfort and privacy of your own pool.
Or perhaps you are already certified but feel you need a little
refresher, want to upgrade to Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver,
Dive Master or are interested in some of the specialty courses available
or want to experience the magic of diving in a cenote. Twyla can
provide all of this for you.
Upon
entering the villa, you likely won’t notice anything but the beautifully
framed view of the ocean. As you explore more, you will see that
the architectural design not only showcases the spectacular views
but also ensures that the refreshing Caribbean Breeze passes freely
through the villa. Most times you will prefer to keep cool naturally
using the breeze assisted by the ceiling fans located in every room.
However, for those times when there is no breeze, you will remain
comfortable because Brisa Caribe is fully air conditioned. Not just
the bedrooms as you will find in many villas. This is a point you
can only fully appreciate if you have ever visited a villa on a
breezeless evening, which doesn’t have A/C throughout .
The
ground floor is centered around an entertainment room that flows
right outside onto the covered terrace and into the pool and ocean
just beyond. Since most of your time will be spent by the pool or
ocean, the entertainment room features a wet bar with full size
refrigerator to keep those cold drinks close at hand. This room
also has a surround sound TV system, Dish on Demand digital satellite
receiver with American programming, VCR with large video library,
stereo system with cassette and CD player, as well as a good selection
of games, puzzles and books to enjoy.
Off
of the entertainment room you will find four bedrooms, all of which
have been decorated from Doug & Twyla’s collection of art and
memorabilia to create a different theme. You may have trouble deciding
which exotic destination you want to stay in. Perhaps you will simply
need to exchange mid week to experience another. The “Persia” room
will take you back to the days of frankincense and myrrh. It faces
the garden and is furnished with a Queen bed. Across the hall is
the “Buenos Aires” room. That enchanting city of Latin romance where
the tango was born. It is facing the small courtyard/casita and
contains Twin beds. The Twin beds can be put together with a special
mattress pad and different linens to create a King. One or both
of these bedrooms can be locked off from the rest of the villa should
you not require all 7 bedrooms and wish to reduce the rental price.
The other two bedrooms on this floor, “South America” and “Caribbean”
face the pool/ocean and have King beds. All beds have high quality
mattresses and linens. Each bedroom is equipped with a portable
CD/cassette stereo, alarm clock and its own bathroom with shower,
thick towels, bathrobes and hair dryers. There is a self-programmable
security safe in every bedroom closet for added peace of mind that
your valuables are secure.
On
the second floor you will find the great room with its stunning
16 foot high red brick domed ceiling. The focal point of this large
open area is the kitchen, where of course all good parties end up.
Here the cook or bartender is the center of attention and is rewarded
for their efforts with one of the best views in the villa. Wrapping
around the kitchen is a large serving/dining counter with stools
where 6 can sit comfortably. In the kitchen and attached pantry,
you will find all of the appliances, cutlery, dishes, pots, pans
and tools needed to prepare anything from a simple snack for 2 to
an elaborate dinner for 14. If you like cooking, you will love this
kitchen. If however you want a break, there are numerous restaurants
in Puerto Aventuras or we can organize to have our cook Arnulfa,
available during your entire stay to spoil you with her culinary
skills.
The great room has two dining room tables which come together to
sit 14 so your entire group can enjoy their meals together. Included
in this open area is a collection of leather sofas and chairs, providing
a relaxing place to sit and visit or to just enjoy the view. With
sliding glass doors that disappear into the walls, this room continues
right on out to a large covered terrace. Out here you will find
sufficient tables and seating for your party to relax or dine outside
should you prefer.
Just
off of the great room and connected to the terrace is the “Mediterranean”
room. This has a King bed and serves as the master bedroom. A highlight
of this room is the Jacuzzi tub. It is situated so that you can
open the bathroom shutters and enjoy the ocean view while you soak.
On
this floor are two more bedrooms that face the street side of the
property. The Africa room, fitted with King bed, will take you on
safari in the utmost of comfort. The Asia room, with it Balinese,
Thai and Chinese influences, is sure to please you. It has Twin
beds, which can be made into a King. Like all of the other bedrooms
at Brisa Caribe, each has high quality mattresses, quality linens,
portable stereos, alarm clocks, security safes and attached bathrooms
with showers, thick towels and hair dryers.
Our
favorite part of the house is the rooftop terrace, where you will
find an additional 1400 sq. ft. of living space. The views and layout
make this the place to be for a party, bar-b-que, sunrises, sunsets
and stargazing. This large area has built in benches arranged to
take full advantage of the sunrise and sunset, a covered wet bar
with wrap around counter, stools and a gas bar-b-que waiting to
grill up a steak or the catch of the day. With additional tables
and chairs available, this area is well suited to serve a meal to
a large group. The usefulness of this area means that there are
6400 square feet, plus garden, pool and the beach for you and your
group to spread out over.
Brisa Caribe is situated within Puerto Aventuras on an exclusive
piece of coastline referred to as “Las Rocas” or “the rocks.” This
short, flat, strip of rocky coast separates a white sand beach on
one end and the entrance to the marina on the other. Brisa Caribe
is located at the end nearest the beach. Here the sand spills out
over the rocks and in front of the villa. A palapa umbrella with
hammocks and lounge chairs in the sand, make this a tranquil place
to relax and watch the boats passing, as they head to the pristine
reef located just off shore to dive, or out a little further to
fish for Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo. Here you will also
be able to watch the parasailers drift by. Or if your group has
energy to burn, there is a volleyball court set up in the sand right
in front of the villa.
Nearly
in front of the villa you will find a saltwater pool carved into
the limestone rock. This is a lovely, protected place to swim. Two
channels flush the pool with the passing waves to keep it clean
and allowing small fish to pass through. We have even spotted a
baby turtle swimming here once. 100 yards from the saltwater pool,
you will find the white sand beach, which continues down past 3
hotels. This beach is situated in a cove that offers protection
for swimmers and like all of the coastline in Mexico, open to the
public. If you get tired of lying in the sun or swimming, you may
want to wander the beach or rocky shore combing for shells and other
treasures. During your stay you will likely meet “Pepe” the iguana
sunning him self in front of the villa, on the wall that keeps the
sand separated from the rocks. He is a vegetarian and loves a little
snack. He is especially fond of Hibiscus flowers and the tops of
celery.
